I skipped through the entire album. Probably a misjudgment on my part as a reviewer but hey, it's how I reacted to this supposedly solid album with sure hits. I was not impressed with the Ambitions declared by ONE OK ROCK. The whole album was chiseled and sheened to be a shiny pop rock album. And that was the whole problem. It felt so manufactured and calculated. So out of touch of what I want. So in touch with what I should have expected.
2016 has a been a strange year. Musically, there were a lot of new acts I enjoyed and great material from acts I followed. The year began with a bang, I got to see several Japanese artists such as Base Ball Bear, Do As Infinity, Aimer, Tanizawa Tomofumi, TK, and many more. How surreal it is to experience these artists for my own ears and eyes. I'm proud I took the initiative to live in Japan. I'm proud I did it all by myself. I'm proud I achieved my dream. Here is my soundtrack for 2016! For the frustrating times, the happy times, the lonely times, and everything in between. Hope these albums bring as much as joy and comfort as they did for me! (Note: All are listed in no particular order.)
Music is constantly on in my house. It's on when I wake up, before I sleep. It's on when I'm working, studying, eating, or doing absolutely nothing. Which rises the problem of choosing what to listen to. I need music to make me feel and the vast inventory available is overwhelming. Hit or Miss can be the caption of my life. However, upon occasion you find a band you fall completely in love with. LANY came into my life and made it so much better.
This year, I have never felt so alone and so loved. When I was abroad, there was moment where I wanted to drop everything and return home. I ran away from people, just to see how much they meant to me. I ran away from problems, just to see if the pain would go away. I also ran away from myself, ignoring what I really needed.
